Summer Time!

Well, summer is winding down and it is almost time for Mike and me to get back to school. I thought it would be fun to put up a few pictures of the fun things we were able to do this summer. One of the first things that we did this summer was a trip to New York for our friends wedding. While we were there we were able to hit up most of the sights around the city. We had a blast! We did everything from eating at Serendipity (one of my favorite memories), to going to the top of the Empire State Building. We saw Chorus Line on Broadway and were able to experience riding in taxis and taking the subway. We also did a TON of walking. The first night we stayed in a hotel in Times Square that was amazing! We loved every minute of being in NY and hope to one day get back there again and experience the big city again. It was one of the best trips I have ever been on.

Another fun trip we went to was with all of Mike's family. His grandparents put together a big family reunion at Zion Ponderosa Ranch. What a blast! It was so much fun being there. We went mountain biking, layed out by the pool (which had an awesome slide), went paintballing, and rode ATVs. Mike also had a fun time playing basketball with all of the guys. It was fun spending time with Mike's family and being in such a neat place. Zion is incredible.

Living in California we have been able to head down to the beach whenever we get the chance. One of Mike's new favorite things to do is go boogy boarding. He's actually pretty good. :) We went down to Huntington Beach a few weeks ago and were waiting on the pier to eat at Ruby's Diner. As we were waiting, we were watching all of the people who were fishing off the sides of the pier. We saw this young boys rod nearing rip out of his hands---a shark was on the other end! We couldn't believe it. His rod wasn't strong enough to pull up the shark, so instead he through in a chain with a hook on the end which got caught in the sharks nose. He was able to pull the shark out of the water and then proceeded to walk down the pier with his new catch. It was actually more sad than scary.
